南北兩側各有一個側門，北側面臨信義路為大忠門；南側面臨愛國東路為大孝門。公園四周是由一千二百公尺迴廊圍繞著， 園區內除瞻仰大道兩旁壯觀的紅色如意花壇、林蔭大道、綠色大草坪之外，尚有蜿蜓交錯的曲徑，及大小不一的園圃，園內南北兩側有雲漢池及光華池，三處健身場，二條健康步道以及三個盆景區，庭園建築結合自然環境與人文空間，具有中國「天人合一」的美學風格，成為現代繁忙社會中，一塊幽靜的園地。

   紀念堂分上下兩層，上層大廳恭置 蔣公銅像，正中央牆壁鑲刻有 蔣公遺墨：倫理、民主、科學，這是三民主義的本質，也是 蔣公政治思想的精義。
另兩側白色大理石牆上鑲刻著：「生活的目的在增進人類全體之生活，生命的意義在創造宇宙繼起之生命」，代表 蔣公畢生奮鬥的動力和理想。
兩扇大門為青銅浮雕拱門，高十六公尺，重七十五噸，每天上午九時開啟，下午五時關閉。
下層大廳設有文物展視室、電影室、懷恩藝廊、中正藝廊、中正紀念圖書館、視聽中心及蔣公紀念室。
文物展視室佔地六百坪，共有六間陳列室分十一個單元，陳列 蔣公紀念文物，從中可以了解 蔣公生平及中國近代史的演變與發。
電影室備有多部文教影片，供民眾免費觀賞，亦可配合參觀團體之申請，調整放映服務時間。
懷恩藝廊及中正藝廊常年舉辦國內外名家藝術作品之展覽。圖書館典藏資料以國民革命文庫、中國現代史等類為主，而視聽中心設有35個席位，備有錄影帶、影碟片等供民眾免費觀賞。

　蔣公紀念室係自總統府原來之 蔣公辦公室，室內擺設皆呈現原辦公室的面貌。
為推展社教活動，配合民眾需求，中正紀念堂特別利用各項硬體設備，開辦有喜閱書房、生活教室，及觀說電影等各項終身教育活動以及藝文廣場活動，並提供導覽解說服務等，各項活動皆採取定期性且持續性的規劃。
隨著時代變遷，中正紀念堂壯麗宏偉的建築風貌已成為臺北市最具代表性的地標，也由於社教功能的積極發揮，社教活動的全展，更成為臺北市民最理想的休閒生活園區，及參與文化育樂活動的最佳場所。

● The three flights of stairs symbolize the late President's belief in "of the people, by the people, and for the people", as stated in the doctrine of the Three People's Principles.

● The Memorial Hall is located on a 3-tiered foundation. This square foundation signifies Jhong Jheng (moderate and righteous).

●On three sides of the Memorial Hall, there are 84 steps made of granite. Adding the 5 stairs leading up to the front entrance there is a total of 89 stairs, signifying the age of President Chiang at the time of his passing. In the middle of the stairs is the "Imperial Path", emblazoned with a cement emblem of the R.O.C.

After examining models and consulting experts from various fields, the Committee chose the design submitted by Mr. Yang Cho-Cheng. Construction details were then finalized after careful discussion. On October 31, 1976, the 90th birthday of the late President Chiang, a ground-breaking ceremony was held, marking official commencement of the construction, with the RSEA Engineering Corporation, and Veteran's Affairs Commission contractors. The project took 26 months to complete, starting from November 1977 and lasting to March 31, 1980. On April 4 of the same year, the inauguration ceremony was held and the Hall was officially opened to the public on April 5.
